The prop trading market has changed beyond recognition over the past few years. More than 30 new firms appeared in the last year alone, and keeping track of what each one actually asks of a trader has become a job in itself. Some prop firms set fair terms and pay out on schedule. Others only look solid until you reach the small print, which is exactly where the conditions that matter tend to be buried. And it is not only about the fees. The platform, the customer support and the scaling plan all count too. A few firms advertise very low entry costs and then run a platform that falls over at the worst possible moment.
Spend an hour on the trading forums and you will find hundreds of bad experiences with firms that never really intended to pay. Plenty of traders met every condition and still never saw their money. Prop trading can still be a genuine opportunity, including for someone fairly early in their trading career.
The principle is simple. The firm puts up the capital, the trader trades it and the profit is split according to an agreed key. In practice it is rarely that tidy. Every firm writes its own rules, fees and conditions, and it is the trader who has to meet all of them.
What to watch for when choosing a prop firm
- Hidden fees buried in the terms and conditions
- Unrealistically strict rules on stop-loss placement
- Terms that look too generous to be credible
- Vague rules about how profits are paid out
- The firm’s track record and what current traders say about it
The comparison below sets out the actual numbers and conditions firm by firm, so you can work out which prop trading firm fits the way you trade. For every company we went through the evaluation terms, the fee for the challenge and the experience of real traders as reflected in their Trustpilot ratings, along with other figures.
The table also makes it easy to spot the lowest entry prices for a funded account and the largest accounts on offer. Here is a quick comparison of prop firms by fee (entry price) and by the size of the capital available.

Before you act on this table
The figures above reflect the terms that were in force when this article was written. Evaluation prices move around, firms run discount campaigns and a number of them rewrite their conditions more than once a year.
Competition in the sector is fierce and the line-up turns over quickly. Some companies drop out of the market within a year and new ones take their place, and with that comes a shift in how well funded they are and how reliably they pay traders out.
Before paying for an evaluation, check the current terms directly with the firm and read recent trader reviews, on Trustpilot for example. The table is a starting point for a first comparison, not a basis for a decision.
What the columns mean
Price - the entry fee for the evaluation or challenge, usually tiered according to the size of the account.
Max. account size - the largest account a trader can reach at the firm in question.
Profit split - how the profit made is divided in percentage terms between the trader and the prop firm.
Min. profit for withdrawal - the smallest amount a trader has to make before a withdrawal can be requested.
Demo account - whether a free trial account is available before the paid evaluation begins.
Platforms - the trading platforms the prop firm provides for trading.
Instruments - the financial instruments and markets available to trade.
Czech support - whether customer support is available in Czech.
Profit target - the profit a trader has to reach to complete the evaluation.
Max. daily loss - the largest loss permitted within a single trading day.
Max. total loss - the overall loss limit on the account, beyond which the evaluation or the live account is terminated.
Payouts - how often profit can be withdrawn from the live account.
Note: all monetary values are given in their original currency (USD, EUR or CZK). Percentage figures relate to the starting size of the account.
How many traders pass the challenge
Unofficial estimates put the pass rate at just 5% of applicants, which would mean as many as 95% of traders fail somewhere in the challenge. No firm publishes audited numbers, so treat the figure as an indication rather than a hard statistic. What is not in doubt is that the conditions are demanding, with strict daily and overall drawdown rules that make the target hard to reach.
Which prop firms are based in the Czech Republic
The Czech prop trading scene is led by FTMO (founded in 2014), Fintokei (which works with Purple Trading) and For Traders, a younger firm founded in 2023. Each offers different account sizes, price bands for the challenges and its own specific conditions for traders.
How much a prop trader earns
What a prop trader takes home depends on several things, above all on trading results and on the size of the funded account. Prop firms offer profit splits ranging from 75% up to 90% for traders who succeed, and the trader’s percentage typically rises as the trading capital is scaled up. There is no guaranteed income in any of this. A share of nothing is still nothing, and the fee for the challenge is paid up front regardless of how the evaluation ends.
